The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is welcoming a move that is seen to remove two of its car brands from the South African market.
These two car brands are Dodge and Chrysler which will not be available for sale again. This move has happened after the principals for the company who are situated in the USA have stopped producing the Chrysler or Dodge vehicle in which have a Right Hand Drive configuration.
FCA Company is known for producing Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles. However, the company confirms that it will continue to offer any kind of service and support to people who still own the two brand if vehicles that is, the Dodge and Chrysler.
In May this year, General Motors also made an announcement that it would leave the South African market and as well stop any production of Chevrolet car models in South Africa. However, the Citroën and Daihatsu vehicle brands from the same company remained in the market.
Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa together with Chrysler South Africa has been operating in the country’s vehicle market since 2012. The two have been offering sales and aftersales of a number of vehicles. These are; Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Abarth, MOPAR, Fiat and Fiat Professional.
The national Sales Companies which performs the functions of sale and after-sale services for the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has been operating alone in the last 5 years. Under one management, the Albeit is working towards integrating with the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles South Africa (FCASA) banner. This will happen at the beginning of the year 2018. This statement was released by the FCA.
Additionally, the statement revealed that 2017 has not been a good year for the vehicle companies and they have not had enough market share for their FCA brands. As the year comes to an end, FCA has planned to launch a Stelvio SUV which will be the first brand of the marque. Also in 2018, the company has scheduled to launch more brand of vehicles locally. The brands that will be introduced into the market are the Jeep Compass (during the first quarter of 2018) and Jeep Wrangler will replace the first brand of Jeep Compass before 2018 will come to an end.
Amongst the models, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is said to be powered by a 707 HP V8 engine. Also, the FCA group said that new models will be released into the market so as to keep the vehicle production fresh.
Other than introducing new brands of vehicles into the market, FCA groups have also planned to extend its dealer network to new places such as the Fourways, Sandton, Durban, and Menlyn. This move has been made possible by the consolidation of their dealer plan in this year.
